Please note that Assistant Instructor and EFRI courses can also be taught at any time. For those who arrive a little earlier, we prefer to teach the EFRI in advance and sometimes also teach the AI at an earlier date. This can be advantageous for several reasons:
- As the EFRI course is not part of the IE, it is not necessary to do it at the same time as the IDC. You will have plenty to do during the IDC and completing the EFRI in advance takes the pressure off and makes for less work.
- You practice similar skills in the AI and OWSI in terms of Academic, Confined and Open Water presentations. Doing the AI in advance gives you a good idea of what to expect from the OWSI, makes you better able to prepare, and a longer time to process the skills that you learn. Repetition over a longer time period will help you retain the information.
- It will reduce your stress level during the OWSI and you can relax and enjoy.
Rest days can also be used as study days or skill practice days with the IDC staff, or you can go on FREE dives with Thresher Shark Divers.
